White-label delivery for design agencies

Design-led shops win the brief on craft and creative direction. AgencyRelay slots underneath as the engineering, AI, and ongoing-support layer — without changing who owns the design relationship with the client.

  • White-label safe by default
  • Mutual NDA before any brief is shared
  • Founder-led on every engagement

Where design agencies hit the wall

The design half of the engagement runs clean — the build half is where the wobble shows up.

These are the four moments most design-led agencies hit at least twice a year. AgencyRelay is built for exactly these — without you having to put a full engineering team on payroll to absorb them.

Moment 0101 / 04

The proposal stage looks great until the build estimate is needed

Strategy, comps, and creative direction are tight. The number that has to go next to the engineering scope is the one that keeps moving — and the deal slows down while you triangulate it.

Moment 0202 / 04

A great prototype keeps stalling at production handoff

The Figma file is approved, the prototype is signed off, and then the build keeps slipping — because the developer your team usually pulls in is overloaded, junior on the stack, or both.

Moment 0303 / 04

Clients are asking for app, CMS, or AI extensions

An existing client wants the designed flow turned into a mobile app, a CMS-driven system, or an AI-assisted feature. Saying no costs the relationship; saying yes costs more than your current setup can carry.

Moment 0404 / 04

Production polish is taking senior design hours

Accessibility, performance, responsive edge cases, and post-launch fixes are quietly eating senior design time that should be on the next pitch — not on production triage.

Operating fit

Built for design-led agencies that need an engineering layer — not a creative collaborator.

Best fit when
  • You sell brand, product, or interaction design as the primary service
  • Engineering and AI work routinely shows up inside design engagements
  • You want one delivery partner instead of stitching freelance subcontractors per project
  • The proposal often needs a credible technical estimate before the deal is signed
  • Production polish and ongoing support are eating senior design time
  • You need partner-safe execution — no client-facing footprint, no poaching, contracts in place
Less of a fit when
  • You're looking for an outsourced design team — design ownership stays on your side
  • You want a shared studio brand or co-branded delivery — we run behind your brand by default
  • You need someone to source and manage US-only freelancers on your behalf
  • The work is a single one-off mockup with no engineering or build component
  • You expect us to lead the client conversation during pre-sales
Where AgencyRelay slots in

Three solutions design agencies use most — plus one for spikes.

Most design agencies start in Invisible Delivery Team, then extend into Proposal Rescue Desk for big proposals and Capability Expansion when a client asks for a service line you don't ship yet.

Solution 01
Most common entry point

Invisible Delivery Team

Engineering, AI, and ongoing-support pods that ship under your brand on your stack. The design relationship stays with you — we sit behind it as the build layer.

  • Build-out from approved Figma flows
  • Production polish, accessibility, performance
  • Long-arc delivery at a steady weekly rhythm

Solution 02
Used at the bid stage

Proposal Rescue Desk

A per-cycle technical pre-sales partner for the larger build engagements. Solution direction, scope assumptions, and an estimate range your account lead can defend on the call.

  • Solution architecture input on the technical scope
  • Estimate range with stated confidence and assumptions
  • Proposal-ready written summary plus one revision pass

Solution 03
Used to add new service lines

Capability Expansion

Carry an entire service line — app, AI, custom CMS — under your brand without building each specialty in-house first. A named capability lead, paired with the delivery layer behind it.

  • Service-line incubation behind your brand
  • AI agents, RAG, workflow automation, integrations
  • Multi-capability team depth on demand

Solution 04
Used in pinch quarters

Overflow Pods

Short-cycle burst capacity for the quarter where three projects landed in the same week. Right-size the pod, run for one to four weeks, hand back the work.

  • Burst capacity in days, not quarters
  • Pre-built design and dev pods
  • Right-size as the work flexes

How a design-agency engagement runs

From first call to a steady delivery rhythm in four moves

Most design-agency engagements settle into a weekly cadence by week three. The first two weeks are deliberately slow — we'd rather get the boundaries right than ship fast and have to renegotiate later.

  1. Step 01Day 0

    Partner call

60 minutes with the founder. We pull apart the agency model, the bench you have in-house, and the kind of work AgencyRelay would carry. Mutual NDA before any client-specific brief is shared.

  2. Step 02Week 1

    MSA + first SOW

One MSA with Salt Technologies, Inc. covers the relationship. The first SOW scopes a single engagement — usually one Invisible Delivery Team pod or one Proposal Rescue Desk cycle.

  3. Step 03Week 2

    Onboarding the pod

Named delivery lead, named designer or developer pair, your tooling, your repo, your project channel. Communication boundaries are agreed in writing before the first ticket moves.

  4. Step 04Week 3 onward

    Steady delivery rhythm

Weekly check-ins with the delivery lead, founder review at agreed cadence, the same people on the engagement month-on-month. Capacity flexes up or down by SOW amendment, not by negotiation.

Pricing

Public starting prices on every solution — final SOWs are scoped per engagement.

The most common shape for a design agency is one Invisible Delivery Team pod plus a Proposal Rescue Desk cycle on the larger bids. Both prices are public on the pricing page; the SOW is sized to the actual engagement.

  • Invisible Delivery Team — Solo Specialist pod$2,400 / weekOne named specialist with a delivery lead reviewing the work, billed weekly.
  • Proposal Rescue Desk — single cycle$950 / cycleOne per-cycle technical pre-sales engagement, fixed price, three to seven business days.
  • Overflow Pods — burst week$2,400 / weekRight-sized pod for one to four weeks. Slight per-week premium on the shorter commitments.
  • UI/UX Design capability rate$2,200 / weekReference rate for a single UI/UX Design specialist, when the engagement is design-only.
Operating principles

Partner-safe by construction

Every engagement is contracted through Salt Technologies, Inc. The same operating principles apply across solutions and across the relationship.

Principle

White-label safe by default

We don't email your client, join their calls, or appear in the proposal — unless you explicitly white-list us in the SOW.

Principle

No-poach / non-solicitation

We don't approach your team and we don't accept introductions to your client off the back of an engagement.

Principle

Design IP stays with you

Original design IP, components, and systems we co-build inside your engagement transfer to you on payment, per the SOW.

Principle

Contracted through Salt

MSA, NDA, and SOWs are issued by Salt Technologies, Inc. — a 13+ year delivery company and the legal entity behind AgencyRelay.

The same operating principles apply across every solution and every engagement — including the long-arc Invisible Delivery Team relationships most design agencies start with.

Design-agency FAQ

What design agency owners ask before the partner call

Direct answers to the questions that come up on almost every first call with a design-led agency.

See full FAQ
  • Q.01

Will you talk to our design clients directly?

Not by default. Every engagement is white-label safe — we sit behind your team and the client only sees your brand. If you want a named technical lead joining a client call, we can do that, but it has to be explicitly white-listed in the SOW.

  • Q.02

Do we have to give up the design ownership to use AgencyRelay?

No. Design ownership stays on your side. AgencyRelay carries the engineering, AI, and ongoing-support layer underneath. The design relationship, the creative direction, and the client trust all stay with your agency.

  • Q.03

Can a designer or design system specialist sit inside a pod?

Yes. Most design-agency pods are mixed — one engineer, one production designer, one delivery lead. Pure design pods are also available for production polish, accessibility, or design-system extension work when the build is happening elsewhere.

  • Q.04

What happens to the design IP we co-build inside an engagement?

Original IP transfers to you on payment, per the SOW. We don't reuse client-specific design components in other engagements, and we don't claim portfolio rights without written sign-off.

  • Q.05

Is there a minimum commitment to start?

The Solo Specialist pod inside Invisible Delivery Team starts on a weekly basis with no minimum number of weeks. Proposal Rescue Desk is per-cycle. Overflow Pods are sized one to four weeks. Capability Expansion is a monthly retainer when you're ready to add a new service line.

  • Q.06

How quickly can a design-agency engagement start?

Once the partner call is done and the first SOW is signed, a Solo Specialist pod typically starts within 5–7 business days. Proposal Rescue Desk cycles can begin within 48 hours of NDA when there's a hard client deadline.

  • Q.07

Are you trying to replace our in-house designers?

No. AgencyRelay is the engineering and AI layer underneath the design — most of our design-agency clients have an in-house design team and use us specifically so the design team can stay on creative work instead of production triage.
